Frame with blue backing, half portrait in unifrom, ribbonbar with 34 ribbons, some with devices, one ribbon missing, Order of the Garther Breaststar attached comes with an issue of the Daily Mirror from 28.8.1979 with the head article regarding the assassination of Earl Mountabtten of Burma. 625 x 472 mm.
Louis Mountabatten, 1. Earl Mountabtten of Burma was british Great Admiral, Vice King of India and General Chief of Staff of the UK. He was killed in an assassination by the IRA on August 27th 1979, when three other people also died.

1.) 1914-18 Star, marked 146 PTE E.A. WHEELER. R.A.M.C. 2.) British War Medal 1914-20, marked CAPT. E.A. WHEELER 3.) Victory Medal, marked as before 4.) Unknown decoration mounted as medalbar comes with: miniature bar of the first three decorations.
In 1914, the british Army had not a single dentist in uniform in the field. As war proceeded, there was a huge need for dentists also, so beside some 12 dentists that where send to France, all the other treatments where done by civil dentists at hand. As Wheeler was a dentist by profession he got promoted from Private to Captain and send in 1915 to France. From 1916 onwards, he was part - as around 850 other dentists as well - of the newly founded Army Dental Corps. Archival research and additional information included. Rare.

1.) Africa Star 2.) 1939-1945 Star 3.) Defence Medal 1939-45 4.) War Medal 1939-45 all on ribbons all marked 143030 J.J.J. Kotze with uniform photo, leaving paper and some souveniers.
Gunner Kotze took part with his Battery in the battle of Tobruk in 1942. He was send home due to beeing unfit for service after getting wounded in January 1944. Further research possible.
